Book Review
Great
Expectations by
Charles Dickens is a very well written novel that is an important book to read
at one point in one’s life. The novel focuses on many different themes,
symbols, and morals and could come off as confusing to some readers.
Personally, I fairly enjoyed the book and its plot twists and mysteries. I did
not love it, but I did not hate it. Despite the lengthy words and many chapters
and pages, the reading starts to go faster once you really start to get into
the story. Just like many other classics, the beginning of the book starts of
slow and sluggish. Once you are half way through, you start to get the feel of
the book and the characters, and become used to the tone and word choice. I
also believe that one should have a fairly large amount of time to finish the
book. One must look up words constantly, and really absorb the content. While
reading the book, it is very common for you to keep reading and reading and to
not really process what is happening. This happened to me quite a few times,
and forced me to go back and read the pages or paragraphs over again. Great
Expectations is a hard read, but is very important and has good morals.
